The preliminary total of cash. U_ S. government securities and other marketable securities as of Dec. 31, 1935, amounted to $200,- 100,000, an increase of about $13,- 134,000 over the total reported at Dec. 31. 1934. Preliminary net working capital as of Dec. 31, 1935, totalled $322,400,000. an increase of about $49,220,000 over the unount shown on Dec. 31, 193i.

The newspaper asserted thc Gov- ernment was likely to "return to the plan proposed by the commis- sion cf scmc years ago headed by Sir John Aird" which recommend- ed a manager of broadcasting and an honorary board of seven direc- tors flve of whom would represent geographical areas. ' Five of the directors would rep- resent thc Maritime Provinces. Que- bec. Ontario. thc Prairie Provinces and the Pacific Coast, two would serve in a general capacity. “Only nominal remuneration in the form of expenses would attach to the directorshlps, the manager being the big post with such assist- ance as is required." it said. The Secretary of State's depart- ment explained today thc revised statutes of i927 call for proclama- tion of a statutory holiday on the birthday of the reigning King or on the day sct aside for celebration of the birthday. The alternative provides for u statutory holiday when the King's birthday falls on a Sunday.

King George's birthday, Julie 3. was observed as a statutory holiday but not as a general public holiday.
