As for Jackson. he is rated in
more style than a burlap bag and whose sole asset is unbelievable endurance and ability to keep giv- Illlx and taking punches indefinit- ey.
Probably out of the chief rea- sons for the refusal to accept Pat- terson as a first-class champion is the fact he didn't beat the man he succeeded.
Had Rocky Marciano not re- tlred undefeated. and Patterson had knocked him out or decisively defeated him. the current champ- ion would have been accepted without question instead of being rated a second-rater at best who ascended to the throne as the best oi a poor lot.
So he has to prove himself by gwhipping every man who even ro- lmotely resembles a heavyweight l lighter.
For the sake of the heavyweight class. and the fight game in gen- eral. we hope Monday's fight is a rouser. It could be. A lot depends upon the mood Jackson happens to be in. whether he wants to go all out. if Patterson hits him the way
