EALED TENDERS will be received at this office, until THURSDAY, the 20111 inst., from persons willing to Contract for carrying theMails from Head of Saint Peter’s Bay to Goose River. SaintMargaret’s, Lot 45, and Fairfield, Semi-weekly. from the first day of September next, till the first day of October, 1869. Courier Will require to leave Head of St. Peter's Bay on the arrival of the Courier from Charlottetown, on Tuesday and Friday in each week, and to leave Fair- iield on Wednesday and Saturday at 6 o’clock, a. m; and return to Head of St. Peter’s Bay before the ar- rival of the Courier from Souris East. Tenders to ex- press on the coVer the words “Tender for carrying the Mails from Head of Saint Peter’s Bay to Fairfield.” and to be accompanied by the names of two reSponsible persons willingto become security for the due perform- ance of the Contract.

COLONIAL RIFLE COMPETITION. DETAILED REGULATIONS.

THE COLONIAL RIFLE COMPETITION WILL TAKE PLACE ON THURSDAY and FRIDAY, THE 13th and 14th OF AUGUST NEXT. 1.--—Two Ranges, at 200 and 600 yards. Five shots at each Range. Standing position at the first, kneel-

ing or standing at the last.

2.—Ties shall fire one shot at the longest range until the best shot shall be returned.

3.-—A Medal granted by the National Rifle Association, will accompany the first prize. One competitor will be allowed for every ten men, on the eifectire strength of each company.

4.---The firing shall be conducted in accordance with the regulations of the School. of Musketry at I‘Iythe.

5.——No other Rifles to be used but the long or short Enlield.

6.-—Every Competitor who fails to score 9 at the 200 yards’ range will be disqualified from further competi— tion.

7.-—-The Competitors will assemble at the Rifle Range, at 9 o’clock, a. m. Each Company to be provided with a nominal Roll of its Competitors. The order offiring will be decided by lot.

8.—-All disputed points shall be finally decided by the umpires, appointed by His Excellency the Com- mander-in-Chief.

9.——An Officer shall be appointed to take command of all who may assemble to compete for the prizes, and maintain order and discipline on the field.

10.-—No member of a Company that has received clothing, will be admitted to compete, who does not appear on the ground complete in his Military Cloth- ing and Equipments.

11,—Any Competitor not being on the ground when firing commences, must report on his arrival to Officer in command on the field, but he will not be eligible to compete for any prize if the first round at the first range is completed.

l2.—All competitors shall be able to go through the manual and platoon exercises.

13.-——Ofiicersofthc regular militia desirous of competing for the undermentioned prizes must appear in their uniform, in accordance with the published General Order, dated 21H Dec, 1860‘.

14.—Any member of a Volunteer Company being. an

oflicer in the regular militia. and wishing to fire as

such, must be deducted from the strength of the

Company to which he belongs when the names of

its Competitors are handed in.
