KILLep on THE I. C. R.—James Sutton, a brakeman on the I. C. R., was killed one mile east of New Mills on Saturday morning by falling between two cars and being run over by the train. Sutton was making his first trip as a brakersan, and had been in the employ of the road scarcely three hours.

Wat rt is Worta.—Tne Halifax Herald says that the inventory of the estate of the late Daniel O’Connel!, of Herring Cove, has been filed in the Probate Court. It shows the estate to be worth $18,000, consisting of yovernment bonds, money in bank, and two mortgages from P. Power and J. O'Brien. Chis is the estate in which the Blackburn family, of this city, are interested.

Antigonish, has just received a handsomely engrossed address read at the Grand Lodge of [, O. O. F. at Charlottetown, where he was also presented with a gold scarf pin and a handsome emblematic gold ring, in token of high esteem. The address then ordered to be engrossed has been finished in good style, and makes a fine appearance in a suitable frame. This address is highly appreciated by its re- ctpients, seteeieidiiiiaaa

New Map or Canapa.—Mr. G. W. Tack- abury, of the firmof G. N. & G. W. Tack- abury—well-known map publishers—is in (harlottetown taking orders for a new map of Canada. This map shows not only the main f-atures of the whole country, extending from Cape Breton to Vancouver Island, but also the townships, post offices, savings banks and telegraph stations, lines offrailway, projected lines of railway, ete. It is tastefully and clearly colored. Having examined the map, we can cheerfully recommend it to the people of this Province.

A Botp Roppery.—On Sunday evening just the house of Mr. Patrick Clinton, who lives off Pownal Street, was entered by a burglar while the inmates were absent at chureb, and upwards of $20 was stolen there-" fom. The burglar effected an entrance through a window onthe second flat by climb- ing upon the top of a porch in the rear of the house. After getting inside he broke open a box in which the purse containing the money was kept, and made his exit through a win- dow in the front of the house. Mr. H. Kavanagh, who is lying seriously ili in London, and who sat for many years in Parliament for the county of Carlow, was, says the Dundee Advertiser, physical- ly speaking, the most extraordinary man that ever sat in the House of Commons, We have had, and still have, blind men in Parliament, and deaf men are more com- mon than the constituents suspect. Mr. Kavanagh had all his senses, but he was without arms or legs. He had to be car- ried to his seat in parliament. He address- edthe House always sitting, and was al- lowed to vote without going into the lob- by. He was by no means a silent member. He spoke frequently on Irish questions, and sat on a number of select committees — a special lift having been constructed to raise him to the level of the corridor in which the committee rooms are placed.
