On the tenth of April 1000. after I life oi four score years, eurnal rest was given to Florence Alice Earle. the wife of William 2:. Bentley. Death came after months of devoted ministration in the Prince Edward Island Hospital.

More than usually privileged with the gift of song, In her younger days the name of Florence Brie graced many a program. Who that was present in .lunes' church in Charlottetown on Sunday October 12. 1899. at the

Edward Island Volunteers for the First South African contingent. will ever forget the haunting melody of the prayer-in-song, when the hymn "God be with you till we meet again." was sung so aiicctingly that there was hardly a. dry eye in the congregation? Tribute to her memory is now gracefully given by the Rev. Dr. J. K. Fraser who occupied the pulpit of saint James' Church while the chaplain of the Conting- ent. Rev. Dr. T. F. Fullerton, was absent in south Africa. Dr. Fraser says, "She was my soloist. 1: de- pended so much on her. she -was a true friend and a grand and' noble woman. Her contributions to the com- munity were many and continued throughout her life. Her years of service in the Ladles' Aid of the Prince Edward Island Hospital, inc the Queen Mary Needlework Guild. in the Daughters of the Empire, of which at the time of her death she was an Honourary Regent. her devotion and services to the Anti-Tuberculosis Society, lthe Charlottetown Dispensary, and the various Women's Organizations of Saint Paul's church, will long remain uniorgotten. -

The Boy scout movement is combating "dangerous tendencies which have grown up in Canada between the First and Second World Wars". Dr. H. J. Cody. Pre- sident of the Canadian. General Council of the Boy Scouts Associ- ation. told the council's I meeting last week.

Guiding and Brownie work is taking a rest this week due to the fact that so many are taking part in the Musical Festival but I hope that the column will be read especially this one.

Kemington although last made a very good effort and we must remember that this is their first year as Brownies and are to be commended for entering the contest.
