Wantep to Cowwrr Svicipe. — On Thursday a Halifax young man paddled himself out to the middle of the Arm in an empty puncheon, his intention being to risk himself to the mercy of the waves, and if he drowned, -wvell ; if not, it would be because he was not born to be drowned. Some friends went out and kindly sculled him in. On Friday he again trusted himself to the mercy of the sea by plunging in with all his clothes on. Being a good swimmer, he had no difficulty in reaching the eastern side, where he waved a salutation to his friends and took the road for home. Drowning is evidently not his forte,-nor his fate.

It is not generally known, perhaps, that during the stay of our esteemed Governor. General in Canada he has given to the various societies, religious institutions and educational establishments of the country upwards of five hundred beautiful medals in gold, silverand brompe.
