I would like to express a few viewpoints on your article, "Sex and the C011— ege Girl", which appeared in your Jan. 19th issue of the Cadre. Most of the viewpoints that I shall express will‘be in dis- agreement with those of the above article.

Your introduction to the pill is vulgar and ill— iterate. You make the doc- tors look very unprofess— ional, and carefree in their work. Also you contend that the pill can be obtained like a bag of candy that you'd buy at K—Mart. Most doctors will hesitate to give a young girl‘the pill, if not for medibal reasons, then for pure moral reasons. After all isn't it rather . ignorant for one to say, "$1.98 to pay for it."?

To me human life is worth more than $1.98. Are you trying to degrade the female populus or just make a good lay safer for the boys?

I shall now refer to your article where you quote "the consequences are too real, too earth- shattering to put your— self through". Then you go on to explain that you'll gain nothing by an "unwant— ed pregnancy", except de- pression and questions that you're not prepared to ans- wer at this stage of your life plus a "strained re- lationship with some male who will try to be the man be supposes he now is". I ’ ask you, "are you a member of a university where one supposes you are known as young men and young women and you still can't face reality? You still aren't prepared to answernpractic— al questions of yourself? Then how did you ever reach university? How did you ever have intercourse and become pregnant? After all, both are realities of life aren't they?" But to you, it's a very blind fac— et of life and therefore you lead one to believe thay you didn't have inter— course, but rather a mild form of"rape?

To me, no pregnancy is "unwanted". Maybe finan-, cially and socially it is seen as creating a problem,

but any young expectant mother, married or unmarri— ed sees her unborn child

as something beautiful, something that she grOWS

to love more each day, After all isn't child‘bear— ing life's greatest exper- ience. And in reference to your quote "nothing to gain?

no experience in life is so bad, but we learn a little from it, and child bearing is wholesome in learning' for the young mother, I shall relate the strained relationship with this suppose—called man, with your next paragraph, where you quote "blaming him is

a stage you may go through". One thinks that here you have your story backwards. Did you ever hear the say— ing, a boy proves himself

a man by having sex? Don't 90% of the boys run off when they get their girl pregnant, no matter how long he went with her? Don't you think that in 90% of cases it is the male rather than the female that can't face reality, because the consequences are too _ earthshattering. Also 90% of the females will not blame the boy, but the boy blames the female. Aren't his usual words, "Why didn't y0u take the pill? Why in hell didn't you watch your days? It's not my fault. Well one can

ask the young "man", why . in hell didn't you use condoms or some other form of protection? Maybe he didn't because this is

part of his ego, that no matter what the circumstan— ces he'll never be the one to use protection of any kind. And if his girl gets pregnant, he'll go to those friends, who will justify his actions. He never th— inks of the hurt that the female is going through, while he is justifying his earth—shattering mind.

Maybe he should put himr self in her place and then his justification would

see that it is her that

has the longest and hardest road ahead and deserves more than to be told off and blamed for the pregna— ncy. She toohas feelings and problems and maybe

now is when she really needs to share them with, even if adoption is going to be the child's new » home. Who do you think is most responsible to her.

Now one ask the question, is either the male or the female to blame because a new life is brought into the world? A wife doesn't blame her husband or a hus- band blame his wife, if she's pregnant; then why place blame outside marr- iage? 'Isn't the sexual act the same. In marri- age you may argue that "intimate love" is involv- ed. But doesn't love make
