According to the ordinary rules regulating the appointment of Colonial Uovcrnors, the period is rapidly approaching when your ExcellenCy's stay amongst us as Her Majesty’s Representative, must terminate. We therefore beg respectfully to convey to your Excellency an expression of our esteem for your personal character, Coupled with deep regret at the anticipated severance of the otiieial tie which has, during the last six years, united your Ex- cellency with our intercsts,—a period unexampled in the history of this Colony for uninterrupted progress and general prosperity.

It may be thought selfish, and perhaps unreasonable, on our part, to hope for any arrangement which might interfere with your Excellency’s promotion or return to your native land; yet we Would rejoice to see amongst us, as the liepresentaiit e of our be- loVed Queen, for a more lengthened period, a gentleman who, during his residence in this Colony, has become endeared to the community by the urbanit-y of his deportment, the impartiality of his administration, and the lively interest he has ever evinced in all that affected the welfare of the people among whom his lot has been cast.

Should our Most Gracious Sovereign commit to your Excellency the Government of this Colony for another period of six years, we beg to assure you that your re-appointinent would be received by us with feelings of the most cordial satisfaction.

With fervent prayers for the continued welfare and happiness of your Excellency and your amiable Lady, we beg to subscribe ourselves,

(ii-:anniiEN,—No answer that I can return to your Address will sulliciently express the feeling with which I have received it. From my heart I’ thank you, and through you, all who have signed it, for the warm sentiments which it Contains, and for the kind language in which it is couched.

Duringarcsidence amongst you,— prolonged already beyond

the usual term of otlice,-—l. have watched with the deepest interest the incrcsing prosperity of this beautiful Island, and the develope- ment of its resources.

Within a few days it is my intention to proceed to England on a short leave of absence; should I be spared to resume my ofﬁcial position amongst you, be assured that my constant endeavors will continue to be directed to the promotion of the interests of this Island and its people.

When the period arrives at which my connection with the '

Colony must cease. I trust that I may feel that I am leaving it with the prospect ofa prosperous and happy future before it.

1) Y virtue of a writ of Statute Execution to me directed, issued ) out of Iler Majesty's Supreme Court of Judicature, at the suit of John Ilenry Gates against Damien McMillan, I have taken and seized as the property of the said Damien McMillan, all the right, title and freehold interest of the said Damien Mc- Millan, in and to Thirty-four acres of land, situate on Lot or Township No. 50, bounded as follows, that is to say, situate on both sides of the Georgetown Raid, that part on the South side bounded East by property in possession of Mary, Ann and Martens. McMillan; on the southby Vernon ltivcr, and west by property in possession of Murdock McLeod, and North by the Georgetown road; that part on the North side of Georgetown Road being bounded East by land in possession of George Vickerson, North by the old Township line, Westhby Vernon River, Chapel Lot, and South by the Georgetown Road, containing in the whole Thirty- four Acres, be the same more or less, in Queen’s County; and I do hereby give public notice, that I will on Tuesday, the 1st day of August, 1865, at 12 o’clock, noon, at the Court House in Charlotte- town, in the said County, setup and Sell at Public Auction, the said property, or as much thereof as will satisfy the levy marked on the said writ, being £82 9s. 11d., with interest from the 24th. TENDERS FOR. LUNATIC ASYLUM.

IIE Trustees of the Lunatic Asylum are desirous of contract» ing for the supply of the Institution for six months, from the 1st of AUG UST, 1865, with the following articles, viz: FRESH BEEF, per pound. FLOUR, do. ‘ OATMEAL, do.

The BEEF to consist of fore and hind quarters, which, with the- other articles, are to be delivered at the Asylum to order, when required.

Tenders for each, separately or together, will be received at the Asylum, or at the oﬂice of Theophilus- DesBrisay, Esq., until MONDAY, the 3lst day JULY, inst., at 12 o’clock, noon.

CONVICTION.

On Thursday, the 13th inst., John Kelley of Monaghan Road, Tavern Keeper, was convicted and ﬁned before J. R: Bourke and Thomas Beers, Esqrs., two of Her Majesty’s Justices of the Peace for Queen’s County, in the sum of 405., with costs, for not having gates or bars to his shed for the exclusion of Pigs, Sheep or Cattlo according to law so made and provided. ,
