Rain, Wind and Lightning. GREAT DESTRACTION OF LIFE, PROPERTY AND CROPS.
Derroit, Mich, July 12.—Pontiac, Port Huron and St. Clair, in this State, were visited on Friday by a destruc» tive storm of wind and lightning. It struck Pontiac at noon, and seriously damaged the spires of the Congrega- tional and Episcopal Churches, the jail and Sewell’s livery stable, and unrooted
number of dwellings. The damage to the crops and orchards in the vicin- ity of Pontiac is very great.
“Port Huron advices state the storm passed over that city a little after il o'clock, flooding the country with rain. The wind blew down the new Metho- dist church, inflicting a loss of $15,000. It also blew the side out of ‘Taylor's planing mill, blew down Pine Grove brewory, entirely demolished Barren’s photograph gallery, unroofed the Grand ‘Trunk freight house, and the Minnie & Grabam blocks, and many houses and barns in different sections of the city were upset or unroofed. A boy named Hfoffraan bad both legs broken by a barn falling on him. A street-car driver named Burns, was seriously ins jured in the head by a falling brick. Store fronts were smashed in and the goods therein were greatly damaged.
AT ST. CLAIR many trees were blown down and several buildings unroofed. Mr. John- son a farmer, was seriously injured by a falling barn.

Sr. Louis, Mo., July 12.—The rain, which is said to be the heaviest that ever fell here, flooded cellars and damaged goods stored therein to a large extent. The lightning struck several places in and around the city. The storm interrupted telegraphic commu- nication on every route leading from the city. Damage to the crops in the surionding ccuntry is very serious, and will inflict heavy losses upon farmers. CANADA.
CoLLinawoop, Ont., July 12.—A yacht was capsized by a squallin Geor— gian ay on Friday, and Robert Wars dell, of Baltimore, was drowned. Four others were rescued,

JEFeERSON, Ashtabula Co., Ohio, July 12.—This section of country was visite’ by a hurricane on Friday atter- noon. Lusiness blocks and residences were unroofed, and the damage to the crops nd fruit trees is very heavy. In some cases the roofs were carried 200 feet. No lives lost.
CINCINNATI, July 12.—Advices from points in the interior and eastern por- tion of the State indicate that the storm last evening was very severe and ip many instances disastrous.
At Mansfield the hardware store of
P. Schall was unroofed, the roof car- ried 150 feet, demolishing a barn and a beer saloon. The Smith Opera House was partially unroo’ed. The damage to crops is very great.
At Degran a number of houses were blown down, and the whole country covered with water. The crops were levelled.
At West Salem a young man was killed by a barn door.
Ail through the State the day had been intensely hot, and the air very sultry and oppressive.
Yellow Fever.
IMPORTANT PRECAUTIONARY MEASUREs,
WasiInaton, July 12.—The yellow fever news has had the effeet to cause the Board of Health authorities to take special precautions. A representative of the Board of Health, speaking of the sanitary regulations there, says itis not thought wise to go at once to the extreme of cuitiog off all water communication with Southern ports, which would be very injurious in a commercial point ot view, but the most stringent quarantine regulations are and will be enforced.
Every vessel soming to Baltimore from ports south of Cape Henry and from Southera ports is stopped at quarantine und throughly examined. Ail vessels which come feom ports where contagious diseases are known to exist, even though they my have no sickness on board, are kept at quarantine for 24 hours are thoroughly fumigated and dis’sf:«'ed, and the vessels having sickness ., d are detained! until all danger of c.:,. sion is over.
A eareful wateh is also kept of arrivals by rail fron soutbern cities, and while re- fugces from Menphis might not prevented from coming into Baltimore, yet their pre- sence would be quickly known and an in- Vestigation made by the health authorities to satisfy them that there is no danger trom infce’ion.

Before I had used a quarter of the contents of one bottle I found decided re- lief, and when I had used two bottles and-a third, I quit taking it, feeling quite cured of that ailment, and have not used any since until of late I have taken some for a cold in my head.
