THE SHOOTING of the Imlach crew has not been too good in these first three games. They had some great opportunities but failed to make them pay off. If the Toronto crew can get sharp- er in this shdoting department, then they will give the former Leaf netminder the busiest of times.

And speaking of Lumley reminds us of something that really got under our skin as we watched the game last Saturday night. We realize fully how much Foster Hewitt has done for hockey over the years but we couldn’t stomach his apparent unwilling- ness to give credit to Lumley for the great part he had played fn all three games. He did admit that old Lum was great in the §-1 opener but after that he failed to stress the importance of Harry in the Boston cage. Foster gave more credit to the Boston defence than he did to the veteran. .

Anyone who watched Saturday’s game couidn't help but be im- pressed by ,-Lumley’s gymnastics. In the first 15 minutes of that gecond period and ail through the third, Harry rose to really great heights. Andy Bathgate, picking the three stars, thought ao too and picked the goalie as‘his second star despite the fact that Ehman had beaten him with the overtime tally. Hewitt ask- ed Bathgate why he had-arrived at his conclusion and Andy didn’t take too long to state his reasons. In, Bathgate’s opinion, it was Lumley that kept Bruins in the hockey game and made the Leafs do overtime to achieve their first series victory.

THIS COLUMNIST is hollering for a Leaf victory but we like te see an old timer like Lumley get what’s coming to him. He may falter as this series goes along but up to now he’s been the biggest Bruin of them all. Perhaps, we were just in an ugly ™mood and misunderstood the great sportscaster. We hope that was the case. It surely must have been because it’s hard to swallow that Lumiey'’s greatness ended with that first game in Boston, 7

If the one - time Maple Leaf wasn’t a hero again in the second game, then the reports of that game we have been reading are gurely all wet. You saw the third game yourself, so we need not pass any comment on that.

AND NOW what about those Canadiens tonight without the great Jean Beliveau? Sure they have an abundance of great players but even so you can’t lose a superstar like Beliveau and not be hurt. The Hawks will do their utmost to tie things up to night and the job should be much easier with Big John out of the way. It’s wonderful what a team can do ome they get fired with a little inspiration, Chicago players undoubtedly have their -sights on those $3350 cheques. Those kind of papers can give real inspiration. With one win under their belts now, the Black Hawks may have gotten the idea that they have a chance to whip those Canadiens. That kind of an idea is most for success and Hawks probably have & in abundance.

However, it’s a long way home for the Windy City boys but, perhaps, if they blow hard enough they will topple the house of Toe Blake.
