Mr. Ulric Arsenault. non of Mir. Jmeph A. Arsenault and a. nephew of Mr. Justice Aresnauit, who re- oently returned from the Canadian North West gave a most lnterwting and informative address in St. Paul's Hall cm Thursday evening before a. large and appreciative au- noe.

Mr. Arsenaiilt revealed life in the North West as very few can as he has been in that country since the last war. He told in simple but convincing language of the trials of

the trapper and prospector in those far northern. regions.

Starting from 1921 when he first went wet Mr. Arsenault showed the gradual development of North West up to the present day when prospectors no longer have to endure the hardships of the ear. ly trappers.

The development of the Canad- ian Airways service to tihe far north has done much to bring the com- foris of civilization to the people. He spoke of the courage and devo- tion of the Roman Catholic and found in the farthest outposts ‘of the Arctic Circle. I-Ie also paid

tribute to the Royal Canadian _Moirnted Police, who are always call- ed on. whenever anyone is ill 0r lost in the bush: never failing when mailed up. He spoke of the wild life of the North West and how one need not be afraid of wolves or bears. They will not attack unless first attacked.

Mr. Arsenauit expressed the hope that after the war the gold fields of the North West Territories would be developed more fully. 'I'here are tremendous possibilities there and vast resources yet untouched. Af- ter the war when many young men will be looking for a new start in life. he hoped many would look to the ‘North West, as a means of livelihood and hope for the future. It is zr life that should appeal to the youi-h of Canada and is well worth while.

A number of vocal and piano solos formed part of the program. Taking part were. little Mrs Blac- quiere and little Eleanor Peters who lap danced for the audience alrd were eiicored again and attain. Mi s Yvonne Arsenauit and J. P. MacIn- iiis were heard in well rendered vocal numbers.
