A long debate ensued, in which nearly all the Committee took part, and several resolutions were submit- ed, The following is the one agreed to, offerv-d by M r. 'l‘hornton:

Resolved, As the opinion of this Cnmniittee.tliat it be recommend- ed to this House, to introduce a Bill to prohibit the exportation of Pota- toes till the first day of August next; and the exportation of raw Grain and Oatmeal up to the first of July. And also, that the l>littiidli03t of grain be prohibited till the first of btrptozn—

so much to be marvelled at, that the Secretary for the Colonies, Lord Stanley, should think or exprgss an opinion. that it was to incrrase the circulating medium ofthe Island to the amount prayed for in the address.

The hon member Continued at some length, in which some able in- vestigation was given to the subject, and concluded by saying—That be hoped there would not be the least opposition to the resolutions he had on a former day, submitted to the consideration oftbc committee, and hoped the other branch ofthe Legis- lature would again join the House in their prayer, and that this second application, like that of last Session, would go to the Home Government with hardly a dissentient voice, and then he would not despair of suc- cess. The resolutions—two in num- ber—were agreed to without a dis- sentient voice.
