Tue steamer “Sicily” of the Halifax Steam Navigation Company arrived at London from Halifax all safe, after a voyage of ten days, yesterday morning. The steamer ‘‘Juliet” sailed from London for Halifax direct with cargo and passengers also yesterday morning.

A uovse in Summerside owned by Miss Stewart, and occupied by Mrs, Green was destroyed by fire on Thursday night. Mrs. Breen was about to leave the premises at the time and had her furniture packed. She therefore did not lose much. Muss Stewart’s loss was heavy.

Evogar McRasr, of Alberton, who has lately returned from Manitoba, unlike many others coming home again from that new country, is loud in praises of the fertility of its soil, and the healthfulness of its climate. Mr. McRae returns home to sell his property in Alberton, and intends moving out to the Northwest again next spring.

McKie & McDoveatt exhibited at the Provincial Exhibition two carriages worthy of special mention. One was a superior buggy, artistically painted and finished, beautifully trimmed, and decorated with two handsome side lamps, the other is a pheton, which is nothing more or less than a beauty. Parties who have seen these wagons, and who have had opportunity of comparing them with those exhibited in St. John, say there was nothing at the Centennial Exhibition to com- pare with them. The buggy deservedly re- ceived the first prize.

vo! Canada, is authorized to receive ten- ders for « loan of $4,000,000 currency bonds, beuriag interest from the Ist November, 1882 at the rateof 4 per centum per annum, pay- able half yearly onthe Ist May and {st November of each year, at his office, in the Finance Department, Ottawa.

This loan is issued under the authority of an Act of the Parljament of the Dominion of Canada, passed during their last Session, (46th Victoria, cap. 3, sec, 4.)

The object of the loan is to provide for the payments of debts maturing or redeemable in the course of the current fiscal year, and partly for expenditure on public works,

The principal of the loan now cffered is to be repaid at Ottawa in twenty years,

Subscribers will receive bonds to besrer, which may at any future time be converted into registered stock

The subscription list will be opened on Wednesday, the 17th day of October next, and will be closed on Saturday, the 20th day of October next, at 4 o’clock p. m, and tenders jn the accompanying form, markedon the outside ‘Tenders for Deberitures,” will be received at the Finance Department, Ottawa, up to and including the latter date, at the hour mentioned,
