Minitrarny Funerat.—The funeral of the late Walter Kinsman took place yeeterdav atternoon,and a great mavy ‘people turn: d out to pay the last tribute of respect to t!e memory of a good cit'zen. Mr. Kinsman was aguonerin the Artillery, and the funeral was with military honors. There was a large turnoutef the Artillery and Eagineers, and the easket was drawn on a guo-carriage. The Artillery band was in attendance. Mr. Kinsmap was a member of the Ancient Urder of Hibernians and that organization aleo participated. The service at St. Dunetan’s Cathedral was conducted Ly Fatber Jobnston. The in- terment was in the Roman Catholic Ceme- tery.

> A Carrie Piacve.—During tne latter } part of July and the first of the present | month J. Ward, of Diligent River. N. S., | was so unfortunate as to lose three of his cows from some unknown cause; another man at the same place aleo lotta cow. A few days ago Mr. Ward discov-red another of his cows ina bad condition, and pro- ceeded to treat her. He first bored a hole in her horns— from which a large amount of matter came out. He then fiiled them with tursentine, he next gave a mixture of and su'phur, which he placed in the cow’s manger to be inhaled, which largely in- creased the flow of matter from the borns, with the result that the cow has recovered. Reports from various parta of the country say that a number of other farmers have met with losses from the same cause.—

THE MACKENZIES OF APPLECROSS.

Alexacder, son of Colin Cam of Kintail, chief of the Mackenzies, was the tisst Mae- kenzie of Coul. He purchased the estate Of Appl-cross, which was larger than that of Coul, and gave it to his eldest son, loderick. He gave Coul to Kenneth, his recond son, He died in 1650. Roderick, irst of Applecross, was succeeded by his son, Jobn Moilach, or Hairy John. ‘Jobn Modach had four sone, Alexander, Roder- ick, Kenneth of Aldenv, and Jobn Og. Alexander was succeeded by his son Rou- erick, and Roderick by his son John, who| died without issue,

Roderick, second son of John Mollach, had ason whose name I do not know, hat son was married and bad at least two sons, Roderick and Malcolm. Roderick the elder of these two,.was known as Ruairidh Ruadh, Rory Roy, or vedbaired Rory. Maleolm was married and bad at least one son. He died at Xishora about 1820.

After the death of John, fifth of Apple- cross, Rory Roy became the representative of the Applecross family. He was narried and had at least three sons and a daughter. He came to Prince Edward Island about the year 1°05 and settled in Belfast, near Pinette Bridge, on the farm occupied by the late John Stew- art. He left Belfast and went to Nova Scotia. He settled there on the Gulf Shore between Wallace and Pugwash. He was the author of two or three Gaelic songs.

Colin, eldest son of Roderic Roy Mac- Kenzie, and representative of the Apple- cross family, had aeaw millon the south shore of Wallace Bay. He married a Miss Stewart from Prince Edward Island and had several children.

I trust some one will be so kind as to cend me full information with regard to Rory Roy MacKenzie and his descendants. I should also like to know the name of his father, mother and wife.
