Tue peculiar taint or infection which we eall Scroruca lurks in the constitutions of multitudes of men. It either produces or is produced by an en- ¥-feebled, vitiated state Sof the blood, wherein that fluid becomes in- competent to sustain ay the vital forces in their =vyigorous action, and “leaves the system to —— fall into disorder and decay. The scrofulous contamination is va- riously caused by mercurial disease, low living, disordered digestion from unhealthy food, impure air, filth and filthy habits, the depressing vices, and, above all, by the venereal infection. Whatever be its origin, it is hereditary in the constitution, descending “from parents to children unto the third and fourth generation; ” indeed, it seems to be the rod of Him who says, *‘ I will visit the iniquities of the fathers upon their children.” The diseases it originates take various names, according to the organs it attacks. In the lungs, Scrofula produces tubercles, and finally Consumption; in the glands, swellings which suppurate and be- come ulcerous sores; in the stomach and bowels, derangements which produce indi- gestion, dyspepsia, and liver complaints ; on the skin, eruptive and cutaneous affections. These, all having the same origin, require the same remedy, viz., purification and invigora- tion of the blood. Purify the blood, and these dangerous distempers leave you. With feeble, foul, or corrupted blood, you cannot have health; with that “life of the flesh” healthy, you cannot have scrofulous disease. Ayer’s Sarsaparilla is compounded from the most effectual anti- dotes that medica) science has discovered for this afflicting distemper, and for the cure of the disorders it entails. That it is far supe- rior to any other remedy yet devised, is known by all who have given itatrial. That it does combine virtues truly extraordinary in their effect upon this class of complaints, is indisputably proven by the great multitude of publicly knewn and remarkable cures it has made of the following diseases: King’s Evil, or Glandular Swellings, Tumors, Eruptions, Pimples, Blotches and Sores, Erysipelas, Rose or St. Anthony’s Fire, Sait Rheum, Scald Head, Conghs from tuberculous deposits in the lungs, White Swellings, Debility, Dropsy, Neuralgia or oa § and ilitic Infecti ue Di ‘emale Weakn: and, indeed, the whole series of complaints arise from impurity of the blood. Minute reports of individual cases may be found in Arer’s AMERICAN AcMAnac, which is furnished to the druggists for gratuitous distribution, wherein may be learned the directions for its use, and some of the remarkable cures which it has made when all other remedies had failed to afford relief. Those cases are purposely taken from all sections of the country, in order that every reader may have access to some one who can speak to him of its benefits from personai experience. Scrofula depresses the vital energies, and thus leaves its victims far more .subject to disease and its fatal resuits than are healthy constitutions. Hence it tends to shorten, and does greatly shorten, the average duration of human life. The vast importance of these considerations has led us to spend years in perfecting a remedy which is uate to its cure. This we now offer to the public under the name of Aven’s SansapaRi.xa, although it is composed of ingredients, some of which exceed the best of Sarsaparilla in alterative power. By its aid you may protect yourself from the suffer- ing and danger of these disorders. Purge out the foul corruptions that rot and fester in the blood, ge out the causes of disease, and vigorous health will follow. By its pecu- - liar virtues this remedy stimulates the vital functions, and thus expels.the distempers which lurk within the system or burst out on any part of it. We know the public have been deceived by many compounds of Sarsaparilia, that promised much and did nothing; but they will neither be deceived nor disappointed in this. Its virtues have been proven by abun- dant trial, and there remains no question of its surpassing excellence for the cure of the afflicting diseases it is intended te reach. Although under the same name, it is a very different medicine from any other which has been before the people, and is far more ef- fectual than any other which has ever been available to them. AYER’S CHERRY PECTORAL, The World’s Groat Remedy for Coughs, Colds, Incipient Con- sumption, and for the relief of umptive patients in advanced stages This has been so long used and so uni- versally known, that we need do no more than assure the public that its quality is kept up to the best it ever has been, and that it may be relied on to do all it has ever done. With kn of these facts, Dr. Rapway was determined to test the acc uracy of RADWAY’S RENOVATING RESOLVENT, which was prepared expre-sly to meet the exigen- } cles of the diseases. as developed in the tropics. | Large supplies were sent to Braz 1, Buenos Ayres, iChili, Peru, Equador, Venezuela, Bolivia, New | Grenada, and to several iglands of the Spanish main, | Physicians and the | | and was thoroughly seated by Priesthood, and is now the oflicia) remedy used by the Physicians, under the Rame of ** Sclutivo Reno- | vador de Radway,’ (th@ Spanish for Radway’s Re- novating Kesolvent,) in the treatment of Scrofula, Syphilis, U cers, Tumors, Prolupsus Uteri, Rlephan- | tiasig, Erysipelas, Saint Anthony’s Fire, St. Vitus’ | Dance, Fever Sores, all diseases 0 } in the Blood, white swellings, Nodes, Cankers, sures ' jears, aod nose, glandular swellings, dropsy and | constitutional diseases, Such has been the unpar- } alleled succeas of this remedy in curing these hor- | rible diseases in the tropics, that we do not hesitate to promise all the sufferers with Scrofula and erup- | tive diseases among our own people, with speedy restoration to sound and permanent lealth, It is superior to all known remedies in popular ure a3 a cleansing syrup for PURIFYING THE BLOOD, and removing from the skin Pimples, Blotches, Tet- ter, Rash and other offensive marks, and will in a few days give a pure, clear and roseate hue of health and beauty to the face and nails, and brillisncy to the eyes. It is a pure and innocent preparation, all-power- ful to do good, but never does injury. IMPORTANT TO PARENTS. There is no medicine in the known wor!d, or phy- sician, that has ever claimed the skill of eradicating from the system diseases inherited, by transmission, | from parent to child. | for Rapway’s Kexovaring ResoLVENT; and we } | religiously declure, that if Radway’s Kenovating | Resolvent is given when the symptoms cf any in- herited disease are first exhibited, it will eradicate the same from the system. In the early stages of Phthisis or Consumption, Fits, Scrofula, and in cases of sore head, Ulcers, Tumors, Hacking Cough, Bron- chitis, the use of Rapway’s ResovATinG ligso- vent will exterminate the transwitted disease from the system, and make (what the parents neglected) a sound aud bealthy body. CHRONIC DISEASE. Another class of diseises that no other medicines or the most skilful physicians have succeeded in achieving, more than in merely palliating the suf- ferings of the patient, which Radway’s tesolvent will positively eradicate, is that of Chronic Diseases that have infested the system for years, such as Chronic Kheumatism, Gout, Serofula, Dyspepsia, Syphilis, and diseases induced by the injudicious use of Calome), Mercury, Quinine ; diseases of the Liver, Spleen, Gall, Bladder, Kidneys, Spine, &c., all of which diseases Radway’s Kenovating Kesolvent will nee aud secure to the patient a new lease of ife. After thoroughly cleansing the bowels of its retained hu- mors, by a free purge, two to fonr per day, for a week or ten days, will restore tle liver, bowels, pan- creas, kidneys and all other organs of the system, to the healthy performance of their dat es. DR. RADWAY’S PILLS AS A SCIENTIFIC PURGATIVE. We have the medicinal properties of the most ef- | ficient plants, roots, berbs, guins and balsams in the vegetable kingdom. In each of these little pills hes a mysterious power, for ia each pill is combined the | elements of health, regeneration, strength and life. | Persons who suffer with dyspepsia, liver com- | plaint, enlargement of the spleen, jaundice, kidney complaints, palpitation of the heart, and the evil effects induced by the excessive use of calomel, mer- cury, quinine, corosive sublimate, opium, tobacco, local stimulants, and exposure to paint, lead, &., will fiad iu Radway’s Kegulating Pills a permanent cure. NIIESK Medicines have now been befure the p during thatt in almost every part of the dinary and immediate power of res uffering under nearly every kind | ime have waintair IN MANY TILOUSANDS terly failed; and to many thousands they have ing. So great, indecd, has their efficacy invariably and infallibably proved that it bas appeared scarcely with the beautifully philosophical principles upon which they are compounded, and upon which they consequently act. 1t was to their manifost and sen- sible action in purifying the springs and channels of life, and indulging them with renewod tone and vigor, that they were indebted tor their name. — Unlike the host of pernicious quackeries which boast of vegetable ingredients, the LIFE MEDI- CINES are purely and solely vegetable; and contain neither Mercury nor Antimony not Arsenic nor any other mineral, in any form whatever. They are en- tirely composed of extracts from rare and powerful plants, the virtues of which, though long known to several Indian tribes, and recently tu some eminent pharmacentical chemists, are altogether unknown to the ignorant pretenders to racdical science ; and were a combination. The first operation is to loosen from the coats of the stomach and bowels the variousimpurities and erudi- ties constantly settling round them; and to remove the hardened fwces whieb collect in the convolu- tions of the small intestines. Otber medicines only partially cleanse these, and leave such collected masses behind as tc produce habitual Costiveness with all its train of evils, or eudden Diarrhea with its imminen dangers. This fact is well-known te all regular anatomists wao examine the human bowels after death; and hence theprejudices of these well informed men against the quack medi- cines of the age. The second effect of the VEGE- JABLE LIFE MEDICINES is to cleanse the kid- neys and the bladder; and, by this means, the liver and lungs, the healthful action of which entirely depends upon the regularity of the urinary organs. The blood, which takes its red color from the agency of the liver and lungs, before it passes into the heart, being thus purified by them, and nourished by fuod coming from a clean stomach, courses freely through the veins, renews every part of the system, and triumphantly mounts the banner of heaith in the blooming cheek. The following are among the distressing variety of human diseasesin which the VEGETABLE LIFE MEDICINES are well known to be infallible. DYSPEPSIA, by thoroughly cleansing the firat and second stomachs, and creating a flow of pure healthy bile, instead of the stale and acrid kind; Flatulency, Loss of Appetite, Heartburn, Headache, Restlessness, Iil-Temper, Langour, and Melancholy, which are the general symptoms of Dyspepsia, will vanish, as & natural consequence of its cure. COSTIVENESS, by cleansing the whole length of the intestines with asolventprocess, and without vio- lence: all violent purges leave the bowols costive within two days. DIARRHGA and CHOLERA, by removing the sharp acrid fluids by which these complaints are oc- casioned, and by promoting the lubricative secretion of the mucuous membrane. FEVERS of all kinds, by restoring the blood toa regular circulation, through the process ef perspi- ration in such caseé, and the thorough solution of all intestinal obstruction in others.
