The unfinished 3-minute race by John Almont, with Prince second and Douna third. In the race for vearlings J. J. easily outclassed his field, winning with the greatest ease, Tootsie Sloper, second; Gussie Wilkes and Gudrun dividing third and fourth moneys. was won Charlie The three-year-old race was between two Island horses, Brighton Boy and Hatasu. In the first heat Brighton Boy lead Almont to the three-quarter pole, when he left his feet and Hatasu passed him and won the heat by two lengths in 2.39}, Which was very fast considering the strong breeze blowing down the stretch. Hatasu led throughout in the second heat, with Brighton Boy second and Welling third. Princess Belle, Champe and Agalon, who were distanced in the first heat, trotted off for fourth money, Champe winning, in 2.511. The fir-t heat of the free-for-all was won by Pilot Jr. in 2.313; Stranger second, Israel third and C. P. R. fourth. In the second heat Israel was first in 2.32}, Stran- ger second, C. P. R. third and Pilot fourth. Pilot Jr. led throughout, in the third heat, winning in 2.263, with Stranger a very close second and Israel some distance —_ behind. In the fourth heat Pilot Jr. finished a length ahead of Stranger. But he made along run, be- sides throwing Israel out of his stride by puiling ont on the upper turn, and for this he was set back to last position and Stranger given the heat in 2.25}.
