Back in Boston, she trained and entered the nursing profession. Later, at a college in Connecticut, Louise majored in English, with extra literature and writing courses, and minored in Commercial Art and Sculpture. She received two college poetry prizes - first and third. Her poetry is in three anthologies. Several of her prose pieces have been published in magazines. Move Smart, Boy is her first novel. Louise's three children are scattered across the United States: Massachusetts, California, and Hawaii. She loves being a grandmother. Louise has worked in hospitals in Connecticut, California, and Massachusetts; and latterly cared for her father in Ontario during his final three years. She has retired from nursing. Over the years Louise kept returning to Prince Edward Island to visit. In 1990, she finally achieved her long-time goal to move back permanently to her beloved Island.
