from the President of the Legislative Council of Prince
Edward Island, of copies of the Resolutions passed by
that body on the occasion of the assassination of the
Honorable Thomas D'Arey McGee, expressing their
horror at the crime whieh deprived the people of
Canada of an able and patriotic Statesman, oan sym
pathy with the Parliament and People of the country,
as well as with the widow and children of the deceased ;
and to convey the thanks of this House to the Legisla-
tive Council of Prince Edward Island, for this manifest-
ation of their good will and sympathy with the people
of this Dowinion, in the National loss which has been
inflicted upon it by the atiocions crime of which that
body so justly expresses its detestation,

QUEEN’S COUNTY
Volunteer Rifle Association,

T the Council Meeting of the above Soviety, held
E\in the Court Room, Colonial Building, Char-
lottetown, on Thursday last, the following arrange-
ments were decided upon fora Shooting Mateh, to
tuke place in the beginning of July next. The Pre-
sident, Colonel the Honorable John Hamilton Gray,
presiding,

The first regular Shooting Match of the Association,
is to commence on

Monday, 6th of July next, 1868,

to be held at the new Rifle Range, Kensington, Char-
lottetown Royalty.

A Sitver Meparis to be forthwith ordered from
England, by the Association, and that, together with
the sum of 850 wil! constitute tho first prize. The
Medal will be the absolute property of the Winner.

There are filteen prizes to be competed for, the first
five beginning as follows :—~

The ranges are 200, 400 and 500 yards. Five shots
to be fired at each range, and in case of tice, one sho
at the last range to decide.

All competitors must appear in the Uniforms of their
respective Companies.

There will be an All-Comer’s Match, after the rega-
lar match is decided, partivalars of which will be made
known hereafter,

The Committee, appointed to make all necessary ar-
rangements regarding the shooting, consist of five

It is anderstood that all subseriptions will be paid

their names and subscriptions to thy Treasurer at an
early day.

provisions of the Act for the more speedy setile-
ment of Wilderness Lands on the Government Es-
