Jul. 11 to 13 - The Atlantic Dragonfly Inventory Project will hold its annual meeting and field trip in Kings
County Prince Edward Island this summer (see article on page 3)
July 12 - The celebration is on as the Hillsborough River becomes Canada’s newest Canadian
Heritage River. The launch and festivities will commence in Glen Roy (next to Scotchfort
overlooking the Hillsborough River) with a canoe paddle salute at 10:30 am and opening
ceremonies at 11:00 am. The canoeists will start from Hayden’s Wharf at 9:30 am. Hot
chowder will be sold on site so why not come and join the fun. There will be home made ice
cream at Cottage Lane Antiques at 2 pm. In the evening a festival will be held at the St.
Andrew’s Chapel starting at 8:00 pm.
July 12 - Fern identification walk starting at 1 pm at Macphail Woods.
July 13 - Bird identification walks at Macphail Woods morning and evening. Pre-register at 902-583-2674
or 583-3068.
July to October - CNF Ladybug Surveys. Please see their web site at: http://www.web.net/~cnf or
phone 1-800-267-4088 for booklet.
July & August - Trails 4 All will be hosting a number of hikes along trails and beaches during the
summer end fall. Please contact Mark or Leslie at 629-1578 or Dan at 672-3305 for details
on their events.
July 3 to Aug. 22 - Sharing a Love of Nature environmental education program will run at Macphail Woods
on Thursdays and Fridays from 9 am to 12 noon. Pre-register at 902-583-2674 or 583-3068.
July to mid-August - The Department of Agriculture and Forestry invites Society members to review
and comment on an information package on the proposed Provincial Forests Strategy which
affects acquisition, sales, and management. To obtain the information package, please
phone your District Forestry Office at Southampton (961-7296), Charlottetown (368-4800),
or Wellington (854-7260).
Aug. 5, 12, 19, & 26 - Macphail Homestead will feature a workshop from 2 to 5 pm on photographing
Nature. Bring your camera. Phone 651-2789 for more information.
Aug. 28 - The Island Nature Trust will host the Tree Canada Tour slide show at their Ravenwood
headquarters on the Experimental Farm in Charlottetown starting at 8:00 pm. For more information
phone 566-9150.
Aug. 30 & Sept. 6 - Birds & Breakfast at Macphail Homestead. Birding from 6:30 am to breakfast at 8:00
am. Birding recommences at 8:45 and continues to 9:45. Pre-register at 651-2789.
Sept. - Mushroom Walks with Dr. Katherine Clough at Macphail Woods. Dates to be announced. Pre-
register at 902-583-2674 or 583-3068.
November 15 - deadline for return of the CNF Ladybug Survey Reporting Cards.
