sent to prison to await trial. Considerable excitement
is created by the recent resolution of the"United States
House of Representatives, declaring the sympathy of
the nation with the Fenians. The — of London
have editorials on this subject, and severely criticise
this expression of unfriendly feeling towards England
...-The French Government has iseued an official note.
addressed to the heads of the teveral departments of
France, on the new Army law, and arguing that, in-

positive terma that ho had any previous knowledge of
conspiracy and declares that if an attempt was made to
afford him an opportunity of making his escape, no in-
timation of such purpose was conveyed to him... .Let-
tera from Paris eay that the reports of prefects in the
departments in regard to the state of publio feeling on
the army bill are quite unfavorable. They generally

PROPOSRAPTIE,
OW to his calling, Wit Mvoronn’s on hand,
A Photographer blithe and bland;
The sua he makes his PORTRAITS draw
At true to life as e’re you saw,
For PHOTOGRAPUS of every style,
Visit MUGFORD'S SALOON, ‘tis worth your while,
For which he’s famed where'er you go.
The Lewey-man a doggerel sent,
The country o'er, that he is bent
To bet, from a shilling to a crown,
His pictures are of most renuwn,
Now here's Mugford's CHALLENGE on record,
And he'll try Lewis, upon my wore,
To se whose Photographs will take the applause,
And are the truest to Nature's laws.
Ho'll bet a guinea to a shad,
He'll whip him up, and whip him down,
such is the opinion of ail this ‘Town,
Lhave sat to them both, Mugford’s far the best man,
He made me look like a lord, or the chief of some clan;
But Lewey distorted my face, an@ pinched up my nose,
And made my eyes look like the nails of my toes,
