PROVINCIAL PARKS - Bundle up and bed down for the winter?

To many, the return of children to school signals the end of visits to the parks -
this shouldn't be so. Provincial Parks don't hibernate. The bright crisp fall
days may be the best days of the year as insects and other people are scarce,

the leaves are a rainbow of colors, and animals highly visible as they gather
food or supplies for winter, or search for food as they prepare for their long
    flight south.

Most Provincial Parks are located along the shoreline, some with long sandy
spits permitting an excellent opportunity to notice the migrating birds.
Inland parks, many with old hardwood areas, have a wide variety of mammals
    and birds.

All of the parks are open for picnicking and walks, etc. from 9:00 a.m. to
9:00 p.m. until October 31. The washrooms are closed but pit privies are in
place. Strathgartney, Mill River and Brudenell River Provincial Parks remain
completely open for all activities until Oct. 10. At Mill River and Brudenell
River this means that the golf courses are also open until that date. The
nature trails at Strathgartney, Devil's Punch Bowl and Green Park remain
operational, and the self-guiding brochures may be obtained by contacting

the Charlottetown Office of Provincial Parks 892-7431.

With the dry leaves and grass we ask you to be careful with fires, but we do
encourage you to get out and have a last family picnic at a Provincial Park -
They are yours, why not enjoy them.
