THIS MONTHS COVER
The Common Grackles on this months cover are one of our early spring seed
eating migrants. It winters in the middle to southern states. This year they
arrived en masse approximately March 22nd which suggests a normal migration
year. They construct a nest of coarse grass and other vegetable matter, often
cemented with mud and lined with fine grass. They often nest in small colonies
in spruce hedges.
