    Founp Drownep.—The body of 2 man
    named Gordon Bill, a blacksmith, belonging
    to Ragged Islands, was picked up at Black
    Bros. & Co's. Wharf this morning. The
    unfortunate man was seen last night between
    eight and nine o'clock under the influence of
    liquor, and it is supposed he whhdered down
    on the wharf, fell over, aud was drowned.
    In his pocket was found over $200 in paper
    and silver, The body was taken to the

    held by Coroner Farrel this afternoon, in
    the office of Hon. W. Stairs, and a verdict
    of accidental death by drowning returned. —

    SHockine Surcipr.—The people in the
    usually quiet neighborhood of Sea Cow
    Head, were thrown into a state of excite-
    ment on learning that the daughter of Mr.
    James Sherry, farmer of that place, was
    found on Thursday night last, with her
    throat cut. Ann Sherry, the female in ques-
    tion, was about thirty-five years of age, and |
    had been afflicted with deafness for a long’
    period, and this probably has led to the im-
    soggy that she was rather simple. Noth-
    ng, we believe, in her previous conduct
    was evinced to lead any person to suspect
    that she had any intention of taking her
    own life. She was missing from her Sens
    on Thursday evening, and was discovered
