    Alliance Office, and we have been informed, that the Agent
    here, the Hon, Charles Young, has, without any delay or de-
    mur, come forward and agreed to indemnify the unfortunate
    occupier. One thing that struck us, as rather peculiar, at
    this fire, was the very great scarcity of buckets. No people,
    we think, can turn out more readily or in greater numbers
    on these oceasions than our towns-people, and did so on
    Sunday; but from some unexplained cause there was not a@
    sufficient supply of buckets, which might, had the fire got
    ahead, have proved very prejudicial. ‘The Alliance Com-
    pany have given ÂŁ5 towards the erection of the new Build-
    ing, at the rear of the Court House, to be used as an Engine
    House.— Gaz.

    Supreme Court Fon QuEEN’S County.—The following
    ds the result of the criminal business during the late Hilary
    Term :—

    Queen vs. John Wilson and Thomas Wilson—both prisoners
    Leonvicted of Manstaughter--Jolin -Welson was sentenced to 8
    months’ and Thomas Wilson to 12 months’ imprisonment.

    Queen vs. Samuel Holmes—prisoner convicted of Larceny—
    Smonths’ imprisonment,

    Queen vs. James Cahill—on a presentment of the Grand Jury,
    for keeping a disorderly House in Charlottetown—Guilty—but
    as the defendant had lately much reformed in his habits, he was
    fined only 20s., and to be bound: in Recognizanees—himself in
    ÂŁ2) and two sureties in ÂŁ10 each, not to be guilty of the like
    offence.

    At a Meeting of the Fire Wardens of Charlottetown, held
    this day— :

    It was unanimously Resolved,-"That the thanks of the Fire
    Wardens be given to the Officers and Men of the Garrison,
    and to their fellow-townsmen, for rendering those prompt
    and active services which were so effectual in arresting the
    progress of the fire yesterday on Mr. Wilson’s premises.
